The European Union stated Thursday it had reserved as much as 400 million doses of a potential new coronavirus vaccine being developed by US large Johnson & Johnson.
Preliminary talks concluded Friday for a primary buy of 200 million doses adopted by an equal quantity later, a press release stated.
“The envisaged contract with Johnson & Johnson would provide for the possibility for all EU Member States to purchase the vaccine, as well as to donate to lower and middle income countries,” it stated.
The bloc stated it was in “intensive discussions” with different producers for potential vaccines.
